Guidelines and instructions regarding TMR

TMR feed is the simplest key to success for the farmers.

The concept of total mix ration (TMR) livestock feed is new in the area which is why not all the farmers are aware of how to fully make use of it. For those who find it difficult to manage their animals with the TMR feed, here are some of the main principles and guidelines that you need to follow.

As a constant caretaker of the animal, you can witness the positive difference in their health within 7 days of TMR feed usage. TMR proves to be the cheapest source of an increase in the meat and milk productivity of the animal. It also guarantees a healthy reproductive life of the animal.

TMR Essentials

Make sure you know and follow the below-mentioned guidelines before using Stockfeed products:

  • The maximum consumption of the TMR by an animal is 3% of body weight in 24 hours.
  • TMR fed animals must have open access to ad-lib and free water supply.
  • The TMR fattening feed scale changes weekly. The growth rate of the animal highly depends on the amount of feed you give them. Thus, monitor the growth rate of your animal weekly for feed adjustment.
  • Any additional hay, silage or green fodder is not required by the TMR fed animals.
  • TMR is a defending source against diseases like impaction diarrhea and tympani, particularly in sheep and goats.
  • Make sure your animal undergoes the process of de-worming (especially for liver flukes) regularly. This is another factor that vastly affects the health of the animal.
  • A minimum of 15 day period is required for the changeover for calves from Pre-starter to starter feed.
  • Large pieces of rock salt (sodium chloride) must be present in the feed manger at all times.
  • High yielding cattle and fast growing animals may consume the TMR more than 3% of body weight.

TMR livestock feed surely reduces the dependency of commercial farming on farm labor, hay, silage, fodder and other agricultural necessities. This feed in itself is sufficient for the growth of animals.
